Ten years ago, The Ohio Society of CPAs and the National Association of Black Accountants formed a partnership to bring a special program to minority high school students in Ohio. The Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP-Ohio) is a week-long summer enrichment program specifically for minority high school students who are interested in pursuing careers in business or accounting. ACAP-Ohio opens students' eyes to the world of business through interactive sessions, workshops, tours and mentoring.

Kendra Philon participated in the ACAP-Ohio program held in 1999. As a junior at Chaminade-Julienne High School in Dayton, she knew accounting was the right career choice for her, but she wanted to learn more and make business connections that could help her down the road. "The role models I met helped me see that my dreams of becoming a CPA could be a reality."
