Grow your professional circle at networking luncheons: it's not what you know, it's who you know. Ohio Society members are meeting CPAs and other area professionals at OSCPA continuing education courses and events such as the ABC (Attorney, Banker and CPA) Forum and the Professional Networking Luncheon.

This idea of networking among different professional groups originated more than a decade ago among Akron-area Society members. They recognized the benefits of developing stronger relationships among professionals who often serve as mutual referral sources.

These popular interactive events are now held statewide in Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, Springfield, Youngstown and Cincinnati. Since their debut, they have grown tremendously, with the original Akron Forum known to attract up to 70 attendees.

Recognizing the success of intermixing local CPAs, attorneys and bankers, The Ohio Society chose to invite all business professionals to many of these events, renaming them the Professional Networking Luncheon.

"The Columbus Networking Luncheons keep me up to date on other events in the downtown area," said Janet Cadena, CPA, with Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow.

Like many other CPAs, Cadena has discovered the value that other area professionals can bring to the luncheons. "I like the relaxing and casual luncheon atmosphere. The CPE credit is just an added bonus," Cadena said.

In addition to offering a valuable networking experience, each session also features a distinguished local speaker. Topics are tailored to appeal to an audience with varied interests, and often result in creative, energizing presentations.

Janet Jackson, president and CEO of the United Way of Central Ohio, and Mark Stornes, CPA, CEO of the Cleveland Cavaliers, are a few of the prominent speakers at the ABC Forums.

Mark your calendars and join area professionals at your next local ABC Forum and Professional Networking Luncheon...
