The Ohio Society continues to commemorate its Centennial anniversary by paying tribute to members whose contributions have shaped the profession in Ohio. The following members have been named "Ohio's Most Influential CPAs" by a member-led selection committee in recognition of their significant, positive influence on the growth, development and evolution of The Ohio Society of CPAs and the CPA profession.

JAMES HAUBROCK, CPA

CLARK SCHAEFER HACKETT & CO.

Jim is based out of Clark Schaefer Hackett & Co.'s Dayton office and has been providing accounting, audit and tax business consulting to clients for over 25 years. He is shareholder-in-charge of both the Federal Contracting Industry Group and the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Practice.

Jim serves as past chair of the Society's Executive Board. Active both in his community and the accounting profession, he also serves on AICPA's Governing Council and is a frequent speaker for OSCPA and AICPA on a variety of topics, from limited scope audit engagements to generational differences in the workplace. Jim's Society service includes the Centennial Campaign General Appeal Committee, Council of Leaders, Finance Committee, Public Relations Advisory Council and the Strategic Planning Committee, in addition to numerous others. He is also a past president of the Society's former Dayton Chapter.

His professional affiliations and community activities include the Dayton Rotary Club, the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio and the Institute of Management Accountants. Jim is also president of the Mark Baker Foundation and past president of the Dayton Chapter of A Special Wish Foundation. He is a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Annunciation Investment Fund Board.

MARK B. LAPLACE, CPA

GBQ PARTNERS LLC

Mark is Director of Tax Services at GBQ Partners LLC in Columbus, specializing in tax planning and consulting for middle market and entrepreneurial companies. He also has considerable experience providing income and estate tax and financial planning services to high net worth individuals, including professional athletes.

Mark has held several offices as a member of The Ohio Society of CPAs, including chair of the Executive Board and the Strategic Planning Committee, vice president of the Executive Committee and president of the former Columbus Chapter. He also served on the Finance Committee, Nominating Committee and the Structure and Governance Task Force. He recently completed a seven year term representing CPAs in Ohio as a member of the AICPA Governing Council.

In addition, he is involved in many civic and professional organizations including serving as vice chair of the Accountancy Board of Ohio and as treasurer for the Ohio Supreme Court campaigns of Justices Terrence O'Donnell, Judith Lanzinger and Robert Cupp. Mark also served as treasurer for former governor Bob Taft's campaign committee, and serves on the boards of Governors of the Capital Club in Columbus, Children's Hospital of Columbus, and the Columbus Ohio Golf Advisory Board.
