Q: Do you support or oppose raising minimum wage?

Federal minimum wage is currently $7.25. A Congressional bill is seeking to increase this wage to $10.10, which President Obama supports. Some believe raising the minimum wage will help low-income families. Others argue it will lead to companies reducing staff.

Comments:

A higher minimum wage would create a rising tide that would float many boats and create additional discretionary income in the economy. Companies are in a position to raise prices, to offset higher labor costs, which they haven't been in for some time.

Increasing the minimum wage should have a positive impact on the economy (by increasing disposable income for lower income families), and should also help reduce the dependence on other publicly funded programs, such as Medicaid.
