U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to Namibia
seeks applications for the FY2020 U.S. Ambassador’s
Special Self-Help announcement to support programs
that are community-initiated and involving schools,
clinics, cooperatives, associations, training or
community improvement projects.
Deadline: March 31, 2021.
Funds: $50,000 for up to 300 awards.
Eligibility: Schools, cooperatives or nonprot
organizations, such as community-based organizations
or faith-based organizations that support community-
based initiatives.
Areas: DOS said the program provides small, one-time
grants to community groups that are working to improve
the basic economic and social conditions of their
villages or communities, and are designed to support
small-scale projects that benet an entire community.

Private Sector Engagement Initiatives (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to
Jerusalem seeks applications for the Private Sector
Engagement Initiatives announcement to design and
implement projects to support private-sector and
economic growth in Jerusalem, the West Bank and
Gaza while also advancing the Public Diplomacy
Section of the Palestinian Affairs Unit (PAU-PD) mission
to advance peace and the development of a prosperous,
stable and transparent Palestinian society, economy and
system of governance through substantive engagement
with American people, institutions, ideas and ideals in
order to improve American-Palestinian relations and
create greater opportunities for mutually benecial
partnership and cooperation.
Deadline: Aug. 17, 2020.
Funds: $150,000 total for project(s) of up to 18 months
in length.
Eligibility: Nonprot organizations and qualied
individuals.
Areas: DOS said working primarily at the local level
and using an evidence-based approach, all proposed
projects must aim to advance the PAU-PD mission
goals, contain a substantive American element and
achieve at least one of the following specic objectives:
improved capacities of Palestinian businesses and
entrepreneurs, improved capacities and actions of
civil society organizations and community members to
hold Palestinian public institutions and private-sector
institutions accountable, and enhanced Palestinian
entrepreneurial ecosystem and connections established
between different components and stakeholders within
the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Young Pacic Leaders Conference (DOS)

Zealand seeks applications for the FY2021 Young
Pacic Leaders (YPL) Conference announcement to
provide emerging Pacic leaders with the skills and
knowledge they need to become leaders in the region’s
economic and civic development.
Deadline: Aug. 14, 2020.
Funds: $250,000 total for up to 20 awards.
Eligibility: Nonprot organizations.
Areas: DOS said this year, the conference should bring
together a group of emerging leaders, ages 25–35, with
the goal of providing them with practical leadership skills
and a deeper knowledge of regional issues related to
the four pillars of the YPL program: civic engagement,
environment/resource management, education, and
economic and social development. The conference
should also help participants grow their networks and
enable them to work with their peers on issues that
affect the region.

Workshop (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to Australia
seeks applications for the Young Pacic Leaders (YPL)
Civic Leadership Workshop announcement to carry out
a subregional workshop on civic leadership designed
to provide emerging Pacic leaders with the skills and
knowledge they need to become leaders in the region’s
civic development.
