New Opportunities, Same YLD

The summer months are always an exciting time for Bar leadership as roles begin to change, and new leaders step into their positions. With that comes a new year of opportunities.

If we have not met, my name is Mary Catherine Harbin, and it is both my pleasure and privilege to serve as President of the Young Lawyers Division this year.

For those new to serving with the YLD, welcome — we are so excited to have you. To those returning for another year, welcome back. I hope you will continue to stay involved and help us build on the strong foundation already in place.

For those not familiar with the YLD and the committees we pour so much into, you're in luck. This year, the YLD is restructuring and shifting our committees in a new direction. While change can be challenging, I am excited to begin this process with you as we move into a new chapter of the YLD.

The YLD is a platform for networking, professional growth, communication, and service — all of which I am committed to continuing and expanding this year. One of my goals is to introduce more law students to the YLD and help them understand the opportunities that await them after passing the bar. Engagement starts early, and with more leaders involved, our impact will only grow.

I want to thank each of you who are already serving with the YLD and the Bar. The work we do would not be possible without you. For those who are not yet involved. I encourage you to join a committee or connect with one of our YLD teams. Even if you only have an hour or two to give, there is a place for you here.

I encourage you to take a chance on yourself, the Bar. and the YLD this year. If you have any questions, ideas, or thoughts, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am here to work with you and for you.
