They may live their lives online and share their most intimate secrets with a broad group of "friends," but younger Americans are actually protective of their privacy, according to a study by the Public Affairs Council (PAC).

The survey asked participants if they would be willing to sacrifice their privacy "to protect national security" or obtain "lower-cost products and services." Surprisingly, the answer to both was generally "no," said PAC's Alan Crawford. Regarding the question of national security, 42% said they would give up "some privacy in order to help protect national security," while 56% would not.
