Many were the artists that were catapulted to salsa stardom on the historic night of August 26, 1971, at an unforgettable concert conducted at NYC's Cheetah nightclub, when the Fania All Stars (FAS) told the world that they were here to stay. Víctor Guillermo Toro Vega (a.k.a. Yomo Toro) was one of them, and although he had already created a reputation as a respected folkloric exponent of the Puerto Rican cuatro, it was through his work with the FAS, as well as his input on Willie Colón's legendary Asalto Navideño recordings, that his talents would be recognized by the rest of Latin America.
