On Mar. 16, the Securities and Exchange Commission's final rule for the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) went into effect (www.sec.gov/rules/final/33-8529.htm). The voluntary program is intended to help the SEC evaluate the usefulness of data tagging and XBRL to registrants, investors, the commission and the marketplace.
