The last several months have flown by. NDTA has been busy "working the issues" and improving our educational outreach. Being included in these engagements are always inspiring for me personally. At Scott Air Force Base, I attended two Executive Working Groups (EWGs) sponsored by USTRANSCOM, Air Mobility Command (AMC), Military Sealift Command (MSC) and Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). Both EWGs were characterized by valuable dialog between industry and the government. EWGs are designed to leverage industry's contribution towards the mobility of the nation's military power projection at time of need.

I was also pleased to be included in several discussions with US Representative Elaine Luria (D-VA 2nd District) regarding the need for a strong US-flagged maritime capability. Rep. Luria is fully engaged in issues involving mariners, replacement ships for the aging Ready Reserve Fleet and improved cargo preference. On the House Armed Services Committee, she is the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces. NDTA's role as a non-profit is to help inform US government and industry leaders.

In February, the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) and NDTA co-hosted the 4th annual 2019 GovTravels Symposium on Government Travel and Passenger Services. With over 600 attendees, the plenary and breakout sessions were charged with energy. Keynote speakers included Mr. Tim Burke, GSA's Director of the Office of Travel; Mr. Dominic Delmolino, Accenture's Chief Technology Officer for Federal Services; and Mr. Bill Booth, DOD's Director of Defense Human Resources Activity. Once again, Tony D'Astolfo, Senior VP, Serko North America, hit it out of the park with his Progress Report. Look for additional pictures and videos on the newly designed NDTA website. GovTravels 2020 is scheduled for 24-26 February 2020.

From 30 April-2 May, NDTA co-sponsored the Conference on America's Ports with Christopher Newport University at their Center for American Studies in Newport News, VA. Together with SDDC and the Maritime Administration (MARAD), the event highlighted the importance of our nation's strategic ports. These ports and alternate ports will provide the "platform" through which our forces will project power in time of conflict or contingency. Highlighting their importance and improving upon...
