First "Women to Watch" Award recipients announced.

Five women CPAs from Illinois and six from New Mexico are recipients of the first "Women to Watch" Award, co-sponsored by the AICPA's Work/Life and Women's Initiatives Executive Committee, the Illinois CPA Society and the New Mexico Society of CPAs.

The new program highlights the accomplishments of women in the CPA profession. There are two categories of awards: Experienced Leaders, given to more established members of the profession, and Emerging Leaders, for new professionals.

In Ill., winners in the Experienced Leaders category were: Terri Bobek, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Chicago; Debra Hopkins, Professor of Accounting, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb; Karen Kurek, Managing Director, RSM McGladrey, Schaumberg; and Judith Meguire, Chicago Director of Tax Practice, American Express Tax & Business Services, Chicago. The Emerging Leader was Laura Thonn, Manager, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Chicago.
