While almost 24 percent of state legislatures are made up of women, only 16.3 percent of the U.S. House is female. In many countries around the world, women make up a much bigger piece of the legislative pie. Here's the percent of women in lower or single houses, as of Oct. 31, 2007, according to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
