Women In Defense's Central Florida Chapter recently awarded eight scholarships. Awards ranged from $500 to $1,500 for high-performing women pursuing careers either in national security or a STEM-related field.
An award ceremony slated for April at the Orlando Science Center was postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. An online presentation was held in May featuring University of Central Florida Women's Basketball Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson as its guest speaker.
The organization established its scholarship program to encourage women in Florida to pursue careers in national security to help protect and defend the United States. Women In Defense is an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association.
