Women in business.

PositionSPONSORED SECTION

Women are a force to be reckoned with in Utah's business environment. Women-owned businesses contribute more than $14.3 billion to the Beehive State, according to American Express OPEN's fifth annual State of Women-Owned Businesses Report. Since 1997, the number of women-owned businesses has risen by 74 percent across the nation--and for Utah that number is even higher, showing an increase of 85.3 percent.

With 77,800 women-owned firms in the state, women are making an impact in every industry, from technology to finance to health and wellness. Women are shaping and guiding Utah's business community, especially as they rise in the leadership ranks and take on more executive roles. Read on to learn about some of the amazing entrepreneurs, executives, role models and change agents that are taking on the challenges of the business world and contributing to the health of the state and its economy.

OnSite Care

Whether or not you agree with the Affordable Care Act, one thing is true: Increased access to care means increased total healthcare spending. With Employer groups in Utah now mandated to provide healthcare benefits to more employees, health insurance premiums are now at an all time high on renewals. The Federal and State governments are not going to solve the Utah employer group challenges of rising healthcare costs. Therefore, it is our job as Utah business owners to solve this problem ourselves.

The current tee-for-service model of healthcare is broken. The Onsite Care model provides a cost lowering paradigm shift of how and where high quality primary care is delivered.

OnSite Care provides comprehensive primary care in a medical home model for employer groups. The OnSite Care model aligns the healthcare provider with the patient and the employer's long-term company health goals and avoids the fee for service model. OnSite has a demonstrated model of success in improving long-term health of employees and their families. OnSite does this through increasing the health plan benefit of providing low or no cost primary care, onsite medications, occupational medicine and wellness programs rather than shifting more cost onto employees. OnSite Care providers are not bound by a fee for service model whereby providers are incentivized to "do more" to earn more.

Donna L. Milavetz, MD, MPH, FACP started OnSite Care in 2006 to change the landscape of primary care for employer groups. As a practicing primary care physician. Dr. Donna recognized that the current fee-for-service model of healthcare is broken and that a paradigm change of how and where primary care is delivered needed to be created. She is passionate, committed and has a proven track record of helping employer groups lower their healthcare spend.
