Without Career Pathways, Workers Keep Quitting.

Two of every three U.S. workers say they hope to be in a new job in the next two to five years, and 60,000,000 are actively applying, maintains a survey by Guild, Denver, Colo., a career opportunity platform.

It is not just a desire for better pay that is driving these individuals to look for a new role. The survey finds workers are searching for greater opportunity and career advancement. Nine out of 10 respondents indicate that a clear career pathway is important to them. Three in four are willing to move out of their current employment situation if they are unable to move up, despite a majority of workers hoping to stay with their same company.

While recent Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows a notable decrease in job openings, quits remain largely unchanged, emphasizing the pressing need to unpack what frontline workers are seeking. "In today's labor market, the power dynamics have shifted. Workers are now telling their employers: show me a pathway to grow within this company or I'll show myself the door," says Rachel Romer, Guild cofounder and CEO.
