While long a fan of winter--we consider anything above 60[degrees]F to be a full-blown heatwave--the coldweather sun always has been problematic. It's never high in the sky and always seems to be right in our face. Winter glare from snow and slushed-up car windows only exacerbates the situation.

For relief, we sought out Panoptx Eyewear, Pleasanton, Calif. Known for its expertise in the motorcycle category--it is the only eyewear that is speed rated--Panoptx recently turned its attention to snowsports. The result is the Velocity Series. Foam cups inside the frame block the effects of the wind, protecting eyes from dust and debris. The eyecup also can be popped out, turning the frames into "regular" sunglasses.
