Winners named for 2005 Combat Survivability Awards.

The National Defense Industrial Association's 2005 Combat Survivability Award for Leadership was presented jointly to Jesse T. McMahan and Philip L. Soucy. The Combat Survivability Award for Technical Achievement was presented to Carl S. Carter.

The awards were presented at the NDIA Combat Survivability Division's Aircraft annual symposium, which was held in November at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif.

The leadership award is presented to a person who has made major contributions to enhancing combat survivability. The winner must have demonstrated outstanding leadership in enhancing the overall discipline of combat survivability or played a significant role in a major aspect of survivability design, program management, research and development, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, education or the development of standards.

McMahan was recognized for outstanding leadership in the field of aircraft -combat survivability. Soucy was recognized for his leadership in the field of aircraft combat survivability.

During a time when low observable testing of operational vehicles essentially was being invented, Soucy was among the first to realize that it was critical to establish "ground truth"...
