Will Morris of EMEA Chapter honored by HMRC.

A member of TEI's EMEA Chapter has been named one of the winners of Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) 2012 External Engagement Awards. William H. Morris, Tax Counsel--International for General Electric International, was one of four recipients of the awards, which recognize the contribution that business, professional, and voluntary communities make in helping HMRC run the United Kingdom's tax system. Mr. Morris, who has been an active member of TEI's European Direct Tax Committee for several years, was singled out for championing ever-better customer understanding within HMRC, informing the public debate on large business and tax, and condemning tax evasion and abusive tax arrangements with no commercial purpose.

In presenting the 2012 awards, David Gauke, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, said: "We are determined to make the tax system in the UK as simple and transparent as possible and are grateful for the contribution that those outside government make to the development, operation and delivery of the tax system.
