More state wildlife agencies than ever are using a tool called the "outdoor expo" to increase public awareness of the value of hunting and fishing to wildlife conservation according to the Weatherby Foundation Int. For the seventh consecutive year, the Foundation has taken a leading role in helping organize and support a nationwide network of these free, non-commercial events.

Dave Lockman, expo project leader and coordinator for the Weatherby Foundation, said that funds provided by the organization will be used in the planning and sponsorship of expos in thirteen states in 2005 and 2006. He some 150,000 people--primarily families and children--will attend Weatherby Foundation-sponsored expos this summer and fall.

A typical expo lasts from one to three days, is administered by state agencies responsible for wildlife and fish and is staffed by a broad community of volunteers including hunters, anglers...
