Did you know that the membership of Women In Defense (WID) has increased by 15 percent during the last year? In a continuing effort to modify programs to meet the needs of our members--new and old--the WID Board of Directors has updated the organization's vision, mission and goals.

Our Vision

Women In Defense, a recognized leader within the national security community, progressively promotes the advancement of women in defense and national security communities as evidenced by:

* The number of members who are leaders within defense and national security organizations.

* The number of members that become leaders within defense and national security organizations.

* The number of quality professional-development opportunities that are afforded to our constituency.

* Our contributions to related associations in which we are affiliated.

* Our increased visibility and stature within the defense and national security community.

* The number of women we represent.

Our Mission

Our mission is to cultivate and support the advancement and recognition of women in all aspects of national security.

Our Goals

WID aspires to provide opportunities for professional development, exchange of ideas and experiences, serving the community through outreach programs, and networking with government and industry colleagues. The Horizons Foundation of WID encourages career development, provides scholarships and sponsors mentoring activities. The Board of Directors welcomes your comments concerning our mission, vision, and goals. Let us know how well we are doing.
