Why Greens should support Kucinich.

So far I have seen many articles by Greens reiterating the Democrat leadership's failures, and dismissing Kucinich with "he won't win the nomination so there's no point" and no further analysis. However, it should be very obvious to all of us that no Green candidate is going to win the 2004 presidential election--winning is not what our national electoral activities are about at this point in time. The point has been, and should be, to try to get as much national visibility for our perspective on the important issues as we can.

Kucinich stands for just about everything the Greens do, and does right now have the ability to project that viewpoint onto the national stage, especially through the televised debates. The harder and earlier we support him, the more publicity he will garner in the national press for our issues. No Green candidate, even Nader, will get anywhere near the national coverage Kucinich already has gotten. Moreover, Kucinich is spreading exactly the messages we want to hear, particularly the rejection of NAFTA and WTO, and absolute opposition to the war in Iraq.
