ABOUT THIS TIME AYEAR AGO I LISTENED AS A TALKING HEAD SPOUTTED doom on the nightly news predicting that 80 percent of all internet startup wouldn't fast the year the funding market was shop the situation can't get much worse and so on.

Then, as big-name startup after big name startup withered and died. I became convinced that my editor was going to kill this column. He didn't.

Nevertheless in the aftermath of the tech bust we've decided to tweak the column bit by dropping the from Itech and profiting fledging companies from not only the IT and Internet sectors but so those in telecom hardware biotech and space.

As long as it's new cutting-edge and Colorado based in far game.

But before moving on there's a quick look back.

Surprisingly only two of the 20 companies covered in this space have completely folded Several have cut back and gone into state so semi liberation. Two were subjects of acquisition by large companies. A few have thrived and grown.
