Slavery in the U.S. ended with ratification of the 13th Amendment in 1865. But many of the products Americans use today, from electronic gadgets to T-shirts and jeans, are made using forced labor in other parts of the world. Now an organization called Slaveryfootprint.org is hoping to get consumers to focus on the problem and demand that companies help eliminate "slave labor," which it defines as anyone who's forced to work without pay or is economically exploited and unable to walk away.
