I think I learned the lunatic effort principle from the practice of law, in which I engaged for four years, long ago. It is true that when you are trying a case against a smart lawyer, you better be sure you work harder than he does. But--and this is the important point--you do not have to try one case after another. If you're good, you'll win enough so that you can take breaks in between cases.
