I want to thank you for finally tackling this tort reform issue and rebutting all of the Republican rhetoric behind it ("False Alarm" by Stephanie Mencimer, October). Consumer groups and lawyers are fighting tooth and nail to prevent further restrictions placed on the judicial system; but the opposition, with virtually every special interest business lobby behind it, is well financed and savvy in their public relations.
