The University of Wyoming College of Law houses a robust Career Services and Professional Development office. This office provides broad resources for students, alumni and employers. Specific to the Wyoming State Bar, there are numerous ways to connect, recruit and mentor young law students.

Recruitment & Hiring

Job Board

Employers have year-round access to our internal job board, which is free and available for all legally focused positions. Positions are promoted through a monthly job e-newsletter and run for 90 days. Employers are welcome to request additional promotions!

Writing a good job description is critical to beginning your recruitment effectively. We recommend describing the practice areas in which a student can expect to gain experience, the salary range and any other expectations or benefits. Suppose you are recruiting candidates with specific attributes (clinical experience, top 10%, or law review). In that case, and upon your request, the office can send a letter on your behalf to the individuals who meet those criteria, inviting them to apply to your posting. Due to federal regulations, we cannot share specific student names.

Providing a competitive salary is crucial when recruiting. Employment data is collected ten months after graduation for each graduating class. Based upon the aggregate data for the class of 2022, the average starting salary for a first-year associate in a firm of 1-10 attorneys is $62,500 plus benefits.
