The past two years have been a time of great transformation for The California International Law Journal and for the International Law Section (ILS) as a whole. The ILS played an integral role in the former State Bar sections' move to the California Lawyers Association (CLA), and used the transition as an opportunity to revisit our goals and reinvigorate our approach to serving our community. Now, as one of the most prominent and active sections of the CLA, the ILS has updated our programming and launched new initiatives for our members.

During this time, we have also revamped the Journal, revitalizing its design and content to make it more interesting and useful for our readers. The Journal, now over two decades old, was, from its beginnings, a well-respected publication in the field of international law. Our ILS readers consistently tell us that their free subscription to the Journal—a perk of ILS membership—is the most beneficial part of ILS. Likewise, our many other readers throughout the United States and around the globe say that the Journal is particularly helpful in their practices by providing insight into interesting aspects of international law they may otherwise not encounter.

For the international law practitioner, whether in California, other states, or other nations, the Journal provides a combination of practical insights from key players in various fields of international law, international perspectives, rigorous academic analysis, updates on significant developments in international law, and information about ILS initiatives, programming, and ways to best benefit from ILS membership.

Our intent in redesigning the Journal and its content is to improve its relevance, diversity, and quality to ensure that it continues to meet the needs and interests of our readers and maintains its status as a leader in international legal publications.
