The National Defense Industrial Association has appointed Battelle's John Wade as chairman of its division overseeing chemical and biological defense issues.

Wade is an internationally recognized expert in chemical and biological defense issues from both the scientific and operational perspectives. He replaces out-going chair, retired Brig. Gen. Dean Ertwine, who held the position for six years and also works for Battelle.

Wade has been co-chair of NDIA's Chemical and Biological Defense Acquisition Initiative Forum for the past two years.

The group is charged with promoting the exchange of information related to the defense against weapons of mass destruction among the Defense Department and other government agencies, industry and academia.

Chartered in 1996, it focuses on issues including: policy, program and budget matters, research and development, acquisition, production, logistical support, training, doctrine and organization.
