McNerney has served as chairman and chief executive of aerospace and military contracting giant Boeing since 2005. During that time, the company has drawn a large part of its profits by exploiting taxpayers. Boeing receives more than $20 billion a year in federal contracts--mostly for wasteful weapons systems--yet it is a leading tax dodger at the federal level. According to Citizens for Tax Justice, Boeing made $20.5 billion in profits over the 2008-2012 period, but received $202 billion from the 1RS over that time period for an effective tax rate of negative 1 percent. And according to the Good Jobs First Subsidy Tracker, it has also received $13 billion since 1996 in state and local economic development subsidies, more than any other company.
