Returning to In-Person

As I was summoned to court, in-person, for the first time in three years, I begrudgingly dragged out, and put on, my suit pants. Remember the good ol’ “business on the top, party on the bottom” Webex days of yore? As our courts have started the process to bring us back to in-person hearings, I know many of you share my disappointment. Yes, I’m biased. I’m a family law attorney who doesn’t do jury trials. My hearings are often brief, and the trip to court (and through security) oftentimes is longer than my actual business in the courtroom. In my practice, it has been such a benefit to my clients to tell them that they can just step out of work briefly to appear remotely rather than taking the day off or that my disabled adult wards in guardianship...
