Casper attorney Mary M. Dunn received a formal public censure by order of the Wyoming Supreme Court on November 1, 2011. Ms. Dunn undertook to represent a client with respect to a personal injury claim, including the preparation of a governmental claims act notice and a civil complaint, but failed to prepare and file those documents and failed to do anything to preserve the client's claim.

The Wyoming Rules of Professional Conduct regulate the conduct of Wyoming attorneys. Ms. Dunn violated Rule 1.1, which requires a lawyer to provide competent representation to a client. Ms. Dunn also violated Rule 1.3, which requires a lawyer to act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing a client, and Rule 1.4, which requires attorneys to maintain communication with a client.
