* In the June 2008 article, "Troops Don't Always Benefit From Virtual Reality Training," (Washington Pulse, p. 10) Clay Wilson's mistake is that the modern U.S. military never looks at any one thing as "the best choice." It's gone through a long and trying history of looking for the best choice, and found out that choice needs to be plural. Virtual simulation, or any kind of simulation, is part of a toolbox full of methods to train our troops. The Defense Department uses classroom or advanced distributed learning systems to educate servicemen and women on phraseology, procedures and analysis. They use virtual simulations to train on motor skills and crew drills, they use constructive simulations...
