How do we handle these dark uncertain days before the impending tax fiscal cliff? We shed some light on the situation! More than a half million twinkling lights of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's Annual GardenFest of Lights to be exact!

The guidance of a few noted tax luminaries helped brighten up our outlooks as well. Jim Clancy, International Tax Partner with PwC, started our technical discussion. Drawing upon his early days as a tax attorney for the Chief Counsel of the IRS and his 25+ year International Tax Partner career, he illuminated the new Camp & Obama tax proposals. We also appreciated his updates on many new international notices, treaties, and regulations.

Les Schneider, who is most often recognized for his three-volume treatise, Federal Income Taxation of Inventories, published by Matthew-Bender, spoke next to the Virginia Chapter on current legislative developments. Mr. Sclzneider was the youngest attorney on the staff of the Office of Tax Legislative Counsel, as well as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy of the U.S. Treasury Department and is a current partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Ivins, Phillips & Barker.
