They took up a lot of room and were a pain to keep clean and take care of, but we still miss listening to our old record collection, the countless 45s and LPs that ate up most---if not all---of our allowance, but were worth every penny. A few years back, victrolas (actually, record players; sorry, I guess we really mean turntables) started making a comeback. Well, the comeback is now complete thanks to Audio-Technica's AT-LP2DUSB LP-to-Digital Recording System, which makes transferring favorite records to digital media files a snap.

The system includes a turntable and phono cartridge, PC- and Macintosh-compatible software, and a USB cable that connects the turntable directly to a computer. The turntable offers fully automatic operation, and a 33 1/3 and 45 RPM speed selector to play vinyl formats from LP albums to 12- and seven-inch singles. It's designed to deliver high-fidelity sound, with a balanced aluminum platter, precision dual magnet stereo cartridge with replaceable stylus, and a tone arm with soft damping control.
