During Labor Day weekend, U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) met with Spring-Green Lawn Care President Tom Hofer and Peoria franchisee Dave Vojta at Vojta's facility to discuss ways to increase veterans' business ownership. Spring-Green Lawn Care Corporation is a participant in the VetFran program. Schock (R-Ill.) and Rep. Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa), recently introduced H.R. 2672, the "Help Veterans Own Franchises Act of 2009," a measure designed to help veterans who are considering acquiring a franchise.

The legislation provides a tax credit for franchisors who offer a discounted initial franchise fee to qualified military veterans who purchase a franchise. It will also provide a tax credit for the military veteran for a portion of the initial franchise fee.
