CLF IS HELPING VERMONT BECOME A LEADER IN creating electricity from farm waste. Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS) recently invited four more farms into its Cow Power[TM] program-the only program nationwide that offers direct farm-to-consumer renewable energy. Electricity is created from cow manure and other farm waste by converting it to a biogas that is part methane, which then fuels an electric turbine. When these projects are complete, cow power will generate enough renewable energy to supply approximately 1,400 homes with power.
