I'm a naturally risk-averse person. I'm not a betting girl, or a chaser of dreams. That's why I can't help but admire entrepreneurs--people who go for broke while chasing their dreams. Actually, to be honest, what I admire is that they have dreams that are specific, achievable goals and ambitions. If your dream is to change the world, it's difficult to know where to start. But if your dream is to bring eye care to underserved children in your community, like Joseph Carbone, founder of Eye Care 4 Kids, that's something you can take steps to accomplish and rally others around the cause.

Carbone is among the entrepreneurs honored in the 2016 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year[R] program, featured in this issue. Their stories are inspiring examples of entrepreneurs who set out to solve a problem and ended up with highly successful ventures. Even in seemingly static industries like plumbing or real estate, these entrepreneurs have brought new ideas and methods to spur change and growth.
