Born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, Vayo (pronounced vah'-joe) Raimondo was nominated for a "Best Tango Album" 2007 Latin Grammy Award for his previous production titled Tango Legends. Tango, the latest release by this unique composer/interpreter of new tango and traditional themes includes nine selections, seven of which are original scores penned by Vayo.

The opening track La Cumparsita (composed by Geraldo Matos Rodriguez) is probably the best-known tango composition in the world. Vayo also closes the CD with another classic, Milonga Sentimental(originally composed nearly a century ago). Both tracks receive a fresh arrangement in the hands of Vayo. As for the original tracks, Vayo incorporates his unique singing style--smooth and melodic--but also powerful, soulful and dramatic.
