When it comes to vacations, most Americans choose to relax and play somewhere other than in their own communities, according to a nationwide survey by the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Master of Science in Marketing Research program and TNS Intersearch of Horsham, Pa. Of 6,000 U.S. adults, 61.9% said they had an out-of-town vacation during the past 12 months. About 87% of those with household incomes above $100,000 vacationed out of town in the past year, while 44.1% of those earning less than $25,000 did the same. Out-of-town vacationers tend to be married, reside in urban areas, and are more likely to be white.
