Lindell v. Frank, 377 F.3d 655 (7th Cir. 2004). A prisoner brought an in forma pauperis civil rights suit against state prison officials, alleging numerous constitutional violations and seeking injunctive, declaratory and monetary relief. The district court dismissed some claims, entered summary judgment in favor of the defendants on other claims, and granted injunctive relief to the prisoner on the one remaining claim. The prisoner and the defendants appealed. The appeals court affirmed in part, vacated in part, and remanded. The appeals court held that a general ban on the receipt of clippings from noncommercial sources violated the prisoner's First Amendment right to receive information, but that the district court injunction was overly broad and violated the...
