A.M. v. Luzerne County Juvenile Detention Center, 372 F.3d 572 (3rd Cir. 2004). A juvenile detainee, by and through his mother, sued a county juvenile detention center and county officials alleging that they violated his substantive due process rights by failing to protect him from harm. The district court granted summary judgment for the defendants and the detainee appealed. The appeals court affirmed in part, reversed and remanded in part.
