UU clarification.

Letter-writer Bob Zannelli's criticism of Michael Werner's Humanism 101 column, "The Danger of Scientism" (May/June 2014), is marred by a serious misconception about Unitarian Univeralism (UU).

According to Zannelli, the UU faith has a "non-creed creed" stating that, "all religions are true and worthy of respect." But neither the UU Bond of Union nor the UU seven principles or values say any such thing. The bond speaks of studying and practicing "religion as interpreted by the growing thought and noblest lives of humanity." This supports religious pluralism, but hardly entails an "anything goes" religious relativism. As for the seven principles, they provide ample grounds for rejecting...
