Utility executives honored.

Evan "Joe" Griffith, former chief executive officer of Chugach Electric Association, and Walter Sapp, board member of Kodiak Electric Association, received the highest honor awarded by Alaska Power Association (APA), the Mason Lazelle Achievement Award. The award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to rural electrification efforts in Alaska.

For the first time in the history of the association, its most prestigious award was presented to both an electric utility general manager and a director. APA Board President Brad Reeve presented the awards to Griffith and Sapp recently at the trade association s 54th annual membership meeting.

"Joe Griffith has worked diligently for better electric service and a stronger grid for Southcentral Alaska consumers for many years," Reeve said at the association's awards banquet
