Roger and Rod Livingston have been barbecuing together for more than a decade. The brothers, who are self-taught barbecue masters, have been to some of the country's most renowned barbecue competitions, including the Jack Daniels Invitational, Sam's National BBQ Championship and the American Royal, and have won numerous competitions both locally and nationally. Although Utah isn't normally known for its barbecue, the Livingstons started a barbecue catering company a few years ago.

"We decided to open a restaurant to get more catering jobs, which in turn led to more people coming into the restaurant," Roger says. The brothers opened R&R Barbeque at 307 W. 600 South in Salt Lake City in April 2013. It became an immediate hit.

Roger says the restaurant is successful because either he or his brother is there at all times, making sure the quality of the food that's served is top grade. "If someone's not happy at our restaurant, we want them to let us know so we can make it right," he says. "If they aren't happy, we aren't happy."
