PositionCaldera Systems acquires Santa Cruz Operation - Brief Article

Utah-based Caldera is in the news with its acquisition of the Santa Cruz Operation Inc. (SCO) and intended marriage of Linux and UNIX server solutions. Meanwhile, Novell is kicking up its heels on a publicity roadshow of its NetWare line. The two events led at least one industry analyst to remark, "It looks like Utah wants back on the technology map." Indeed.

The Caldera Systems move brought Utah heavily into the spotlight as technology watchdogs speculated on the future of the operating systems industry in light of now same-company-ownership of Linux and UNIX.
