Matthew Rothschild's review of Rachel Maddow's book slips in an error that has become almost universal among people who ought to know better ("Postdating the Empire," June issue). It says the National Defense Authorization Act "gives the President the right to pick up any person anywhere and toss them in a military dungeon."

Poppycock! Congress has no authority to grant anyone powers that are not authorized under the Constitution. Accurate reporting would say...
