Gov. Sarah Palin chose two Interior Alaska companies to receive the Governor's Exporter of the Year Awards.
Usibelli Coal Mine Inc. of Healy was honored for its international coal-shipping efforts. The family owned company has shipped more than 13 million tons of coal to South Korea and other Pacific Rim customers since 1985. In 2004, Usibelli tested coal shipments to Chile. That business now has totaled 500,000 tons of coal sent to three utilities.
