ScanSource named Corporate Donor of the Year

On Thursday, Nov. 15, the South Carolina Piedmont Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will celebrate National Philanthropy Day with a luncheon to recognize Upstate individuals and companies for their philanthropic efforts.

The lunch will be held at Embassy Suites on Verdae Boulevard in Greenville, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Piedmont chapter is recognizing ScanSource as the Corporate Donor of the Year; Ann Bryan as the Individual Philanthropist of the Year; Vic Bailey IV, Leslie Bailey Calicutt and Neely Bailey Darr as the Young Philanthropists of the Year; and Dr. Gloria Webb Close as the Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year, according to a news release.

Every year since 1986 when President Ronald Reagan first proclaimed Nov. 15 as National Philanthropy Day, communities across the globe have celebrated by hosting events to recognize activities of donors, volunteers, foundations, leaders, corporations, and others engaged in philanthropy, according to the release.

Habitat for Humanity raises the wall

Habitat for Humanity, Duke Energy, the Greenville Drive and other partners in the "Home Run for Heroes" campaign have raised the wall on a Habitat home for Air Force veteran family T.J. and Felicia Rush of Greenville and their two daughters.

The wall-raising event was the culmination of the season-long "Home Runs for Heroes" campaign, through which Duke Energy pledged a contribution to Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County's Veteran Build program for each home run hit...
