The University of Alaska Alumni Association honored three Alumni of Distinction in October. Author Dana Stabenow received the UAA Alumni of Achievement Award. Stabenow has penned science fiction, mystery and suspense/thriller works, often set in her home state of Alaska. She earned a Master of Fine Arts from UAA in 1985. Her 27th novel, "Though Not Dead," is due out in February.

Gloria O'Neill received the UAA Alumni Humanitarian Award. O'Neill has served as president and chief executive of Cook Inlet Tribal Council since 1998. Under her leadership, CITC's...
