The U.S. Naval Academy is the
undergraduate college of the Naval
Service. Through its comprehensive
4-year program, which stresses
excellence in academics, physical
education, professional training, conduct,
and honor, the Academy prepares young
men and women morally, mentally, and
physically to be professional off‌icers
in the Navy and Marine Corps. All
graduates receive a bachelor of science
degree in 1 of 19 majors.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency is a separately organized agency
within the Department of Defense and
is under the authority, direction, and
control of the Under Secretary of Defense
(Acquisition, Technology and Logistics).
The Agency serves as the central
research and development organization
of the Department of Defense with a
primary responsibility to maintain U.S.
technological superiority over potential
adversaries. It pursues imaginative and
innovative research and development
projects, and conducts demonstration
projects that represent technology
appropriate for joint programs, programs
in support of deployed forces, or selected
programs of the military departments. To
this end, the Agency arranges, manages,
and directs the performance of work
connected with assigned advanced
projects by the military departments,
other Government agencies, individuals,
private business entities, and educational
or research institutions, as appropriate.
